Writing notes

Headings, lists, checkboxes, quotes, links, images, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, colour and highlight. Saves as you type.

Notes saves as you type. The toolbar gives you titles and headings, bulleted and numbered lists, checkboxes, quotes, links and images, plus text colour and highlight.

Shortcuts at the start of a line: - or * starts a list, 1. a numbered list, [] a checkbox. Press Return on an empty list row to go back to normal text.

Bold, italic, underline and strikethrough work on selected words: use the B, I, U and S buttons, or on a computer ⌘B, ⌘I, ⌘U and ⌘⇧X. Colour and highlight also apply to whatever you have selected; with nothing selected the iPhone and iPad app colours the whole line.

Formatting is the same everywhere. Words you make bold or coloured on the web look the same in the app, and the other way round.
